Top 5 Social Media Apps for iPhone

With Social Media playing an ever increasing role in our day-to-day marketing strategies, we profile our Top 5 Social Media Apps for iPhone.

Tweetbot

Download Tweetbot from the App Store

Tweetbot has been my go-to twitter app since it launched in 2011. Now in its fourth incarnation, it’s still my preferred twitter client when on the go. It offers 3rd party support for images and videos, meaning Instagram images and YouTube videos appear inline in your timeline, not just as a link to the image or video.

Tweetbot has a great stats view and now offers a consolidated activity timeline charting all the engagement on your account including likes, retweets and new followers. The app allows you to mute tweets by user, hashtag, tweet source, or keywords, handy if you’re timeline is overlaoded. Additionally, it can handle multiple twitter accounts and is now a universal iPhone and iPad app.

Hooks

Download Hooks from the App Store

Hooks isn’t really a Social Media app. It’s a notification app. Want to know when the next episode of your favourite TV show is due to air? Hooks will notify you. Need to know if there’s heavy rain forecast in your area tomorrow? Hooks can let you know the night before. Want to know your team’s score at full-time? Guess what… Hooks has it covered.

Hooks can also monitor and notify you of events within various Social Media networks. The app can notify you when a particular twitter account posts a tweet. If a particular hashtag is used, Hooks can let you know. It’s not limited to twitter either, the app has Instagram, YouTube, Flickr, Vine, Pinterest and Vimeo covered.

Buffer

Download Buffer from the App Store

The app allows you to share text, links, images or videos to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn, all from within the app. Your posts will automatically be scheduled and spaced out throughout the day and posted to your selected social networks. You can also custom schedule your posts or post immediately right inside the app.

Canva

Download Canva from the App Store

Canva is a simple graphic design app for iPhone and iPad. The app allows to you easily overlay text and graphics onto photos. You can use your own photos or choose from a selection from within the app’s own library of images. Canva has a wide range of fonts and a good choice of preset designs, which can also be customised. The app can create graphics at preset sizes for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. It can also create social media cover images, blog images, posters and presentations. If you’re on the move and need to create a new cover image or produce a blog image fast, then Canva is a great tool to have in your mobile app arsenal.

Prisma

Download Prisma from the App Store

Prisma is an ‘Art Photo Editor’ which can transform your photos into stylised artworks with a few taps and swipes. You simply apply filters to your images, much like Instagram. The filters in Prisma can turn your photo into a Mondrian, a Lichtenstein, a Munch, or one of many other art styles. Why is this a great app? Because it actually works. Some filters suit certain photos better than others but in general, the resulting ‘artwork’ looks great. Why is this a great Social Media app? Because it’s fast, easy to use and can make your Social Media images really stand out from the crowd.
