The Brief

In early 2017, Go-Gum Group Managing Director Rob Dixon came to the conclusion that the company had effectively outgrown its website and fresh thinking and a new web design was needed. Having worked with Preston based Quentin James Design since founding the company in the year 2000, Rob turned to trusted website designer and marketing adviser Quentin James to lead the new web design project.

When Go-Gum Limited began, back in the year 2000, the sole focus of the business was the sale of environmentally friendly chewing gum removal machines. Over time, Go-Gum Group has expanded and diversified into graffiti removal machines, specialist anti-graffiti coatings, anti-chewing gum impregnation treatments for stone & paving, plus Street Scene Team cleaning services. Most recently, the group has introduced nationwide contracting services in the form of Surface Solutions and Services, a specialist division of the Go-Gum Group.

Our Web Design Solution

The company needed a new web design which was modern, mobile friendly, full responsive and flexible enough to grow step-by-step with the business. It was decided to build the new website using free, open-source systems, principally the WordPress Content Management System and the Bootstrap Mobile Responsive Framework.

With the platform technical specifications decided for the website, Quentin set about creating a fresh looking web design which focused on a set of clear ‘Calls To Action’, eye-catching photography and well written content which was easy for visitors to absorb.

The new website design showcases the company’s products, services and the many high-profile clients, events and projects that The Go-Gum Group have worked with. YouTube videos which show the products in action are also featured throughout the new web design and these are also fully responsive and mobile friendly. Product pages detail the benefits at a glance, as well as explaining in detail the specific Areas of Use, Product Technical Specifications and their individual Environmental Impact.

In order to enhance our in-house, content lead Search Engine Optimisation plan, we added an SSL Certificate, as well as the leading WordPress SEO Plugin, Yoast. Go-Gum Group Managing Director Rob Dixon was keen to explore the benefits of Social Media but was unsure where to begin. Social Media sharing tools were included in the new web design and links to their fledgeling Social Media accounts feature on every page of the new website design.

Social Media for Business Workshops

Following on from this initial interest in Social Media, we ran a dedicated one day ‘Social Media for Business Workshop’, held at our studio in Preston, for Rob and the Go-Gum team. During the morning session, we explained the differences between the various social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, SnapChat and Google+. After lunch, we ran through the best practices for the core networks and then developed some specific strategies and techniques for the Go-Gum Group team to implement, test and refine.

Search Engine Optimisation

We’re working with the Go-Gum Group on an on-going, monthly basis, to create fresh new content for their new web design as part of a content lead Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy. Well researched, well written, original content, published on their new, technically optimised, WordPress based website is paying dividends, with weekly improvements in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) positions and steady increases in website visitor numbers.
